With the projected profile of the demographic transition in the Arab World and Africa, considering the “youth bulge”, the regions are expected to experience in the next ten years the 100 million youth unemployment challenge, which, if not addressed, will become a source for social unrest, with an increasing pool of young people being targeted by radicalized movements.
The University of the Future is an innovative approach to produce job opportunities for the youth in the Arab World and Africa, where an increasing risk of radicalization exists, to transform the 100 Million Youth Unemployment Challenge into a constellation of 100 Million Shining Stars.
Besides the University of the Future, what other initiatives to create opportunities for the youth and conditions for inclusiveness are needed? The 100 Million Stars Lab will bring together innovative minds to develop initiatives to be presented and discussed with decision makers during the 100 Million Stars World Majlis at Expo 2020 and to draft the declaration.
UAEU Science and Innovation Park and the Abdullah Al Ghurair Foundation for Education will host the MIT Bootcamp in the newly established Expo 2020 Hub located at UAEU Science and Innovation Park during Innovation Week from the 1 – 6 April, 2020. The Bootcamp theme will be “The 100 Million Stars” and it will be delivered by facilitators from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
120 students will be selected among applicants from UAEU and other national universities, to ideate innovative solutions to address the unemployment challenge in the Arab and African region. Learn more…
