With the projected profile of the demographic transition in the Arab World and Africa, considering the “youth bulge”, the regions are expected to experience in the next ten years the 100 million youth unemployment challenge. The 100 Million Stars initiative aims to transform the 100 million unemployed youth in the Arab World, Africa and South Asia Region (AWASAR) into 100 million shining stars thus mitigating the risk of youth radicalization in these regions.
The recent COVID-19 crisis has added further to high unemployment levels and has made the need for innovative approaches to solving youth unemployment even more apparent.

Innovation in Times of Crisis
A pre-pilot of the Pathfinders Program will be carried-out at UAEU from Jan – Jun 2021 called “Innovation in Times of Crisis”. 75 UAEU students or fresh graduates from the northern emirates will work on challenges posed by COVID-19.
A six-month program, where 30 international pathfinders will be selected to experience a shorter version of the five phases of the UoF curriculum (Curriculum of the Future, CoF) using Expo 2020 Dubai and country pavilions as a real-world ecosystem.
UAEU and Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education will co-host a 5.5 days boot camp at the UAEU campus in April 2021. It will be delivered in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). There will be 120 UAE and Arab students, 15 coaches and 10+ experts. The aim is to develop innovative solutions to address the unemployment challenge.
